American TournamentThe first social/American format tennis tournament of the season was played on Sunday 25th April, and despite the heavy deluge of rain which fell promptly at 2.00pm, an afternoon of quality tennis followed a slightly delayed start (which gave participants an opportunity to sample the delicious refreshments!).Serena Entwistle won her first Cuddington trophy (well, a pair of sweatbands!) and Richard Ellison, no stranger to the podium, won the Mens award. Graham Finnigan was presented with a special prize for playing some of the best winning shots of the afternoon! A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO JOINED IN AND MAKE THIS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL AND ENJOYABLE OCCASION!  Committee 2010/11Emma Fearnside is the new club chairman for the 2010/11 season. Congratulations to her and a big thank you to outgoing chairman Simon Hilton for steering the club successfully through a year of great changes for the club.A full list of the club officers can be found here. Themed Senior Club NightsOur final themed (Spanish) club night for the 2009 season was held on 2nd July. It was another big success and over 20 members attended. We were treated to a dazzling array of delicious tapas provided by Emma and Trish.

The Gerry Ferber & Maureen Kirby Memorial Tournament Sunday 30th AugustPlease click here to see photos of the day.The traditional August Bank Holiday weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of 20 players who competed for our two very special trophies in memory of Gerry Ferber & Maureen Kirby. A great mix of participants, from team members to clubnight players, entered into the spirit of the afternoon. Closely contested games with some very memorable rallies - suitably rewarded with prizes if not the point - were the flavour of the afternoon, with the 'top places' changing after every round. A victorious Gaynor Hawthornethwaite narrowly beat Linda Pinder and Margaret Wilding to be presented with the Ladies trophy by Norman Kirby. And Damian Cookson, received the Men's trophy from Carol Ferber, with Richard Ellison the close runner-up. Sincere thanks to Linda Pinder for organising the delicious BBQ, to Kevin for braving to rain to make sure it was cooked to perfection and to Graham Finnigan for providing the bread rolls again.
