Well another Club Tournament ends with a very entertaining finals day. Congratulations to the winners, and a big thanks to all the players that took part. The tennis matches were hard fought with some excellent tennis being played. The weather on Sunday, though windy, was warm, and to a large extent dry. A good gathering of spectators came and went throughout the afternoon, reclining on the club's new benches and sampling the excellent refreshments that were available.
The success of the tournament is always down to a team effort, and this year was no exception, so a big thank you to a couple of people in particular.
Thanks to Russ and Linda for help with the organisation of the tournament and updating the results, with the help of Les, on the web site. Thanks especially to Linda for once again listening to my 'rants' on the telephone when events were not going smoothly. The Tournament ,of course, wouldn't be the same without the refreshments. The cakes, especially, were wonderful, and these were made and organised by a team of members, organised with military precision by Linda Sealey and Barbara O'Neil. Linda was busy also being the official photographer for the day.
The Tournament wouldn't be the same without a few hiccups, but on the whole everyone behaved themselves. It is the players that make this Tournament happen, so I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and come on everyone, we need even more players entering next year. |
